Content Developer / Trainer and Assessor / Biological Oceanographer

Maria Luiza Schmitz Fontes

I am a Marine Scientist with current interests in microbial ecology, genetics and microplastics. For nearly a decade I worked as a Research Associate in Brazil and Australia. The majority of my work was focused on the study of microbes in estuaries, lakes and open ocean, fluxes of CO2 in the water column, biogeochemistry and developing clean energy projects. Before coming to Australia, I lectured students, for four years, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. My classes focused on Marine Pollution, Introduction to Oceanography and Microbial Ecology. In addition to my lecturing, I also supported several students with their marine research, projects and thesis.

Paula Lancaster

For the past 20 years, I have been a secondary teacher. After teaching English, Drama, and Religion for many years it became apparent that there was a gap in the expertise surrounding the teaching of world religions. It was here, with my knowledge and passion, that I immersed myself in understanding my theoretical knowledge by engaging in developing relationships with people of other religions. The complementary knowledge and immersion developed my ability to teach world religions in a more credible manner. A vocational crisis led me to Envirotech. This management role is fulfilling and supporting my spirit and is additionally inspiring me because of the Marine and Sustainability courses.

Marine Trainer

Elizabeth Tovar

I am an Oceanographer with a passion for community-based projects that deepen our connection with nature and the ocean. I've worked, collaborated, and volunteered with organisations around the world focusing on marine and coastal conservation, sustainable fisheries management, environmental education, and community, women, and youth empowerment. Throughout my career I noted the disconnection between environmental health, social well being, and economic growth present in many of the projects implemented in coastal areas. We need long-term goals, informed decisions, and community engagement to have a positive and sustainable impact on the environment.

We are launching our very first Online Short Course, "Plan for Environmental Conservation and Restoration Projects".
